Our promises
What SafeEar does with what you share, in plain words. Every line here is true today. If anything changes, this page changes first, with the date.
What we never do
- We never record your calls.
- We never put advertising or analytics trackers on your screens.
- We never read your text chats, journal, notes or Mind Comb.
- We never sell your data.
- We never train AI on your words without asking you first.
- We never show you to a listener by your real name: they see the name you chose.
- We never target anyone by religion, caste or community.
- We never charge you without showing the price first, and nothing renews by itself.
Your data at a glance
| What we collect | Your account (name, email, phone number), what you write or say in SafeEar’s features, and the details of each call or chat: who, when, how long and how it ended. Card and UPI details stay with Razorpay; we never see them. |
|---|---|
| Why | Only to run the service you asked for, keep it safe, take payments and fix problems. |
| Who can see it | You. Your listener sees your chosen name and what you share in that session. The SafeEar team sees account and session details, your listener’s short after-call summary, and any report you send, never your text chats, journal, notes or Mind Comb. |
| How long we keep it | While your account is open. When you close it, everything you wrote (journal, notes, Mind Comb, chats and messages to support) is deleted straight away, and the last copies in our encrypted backups are gone within 31 days. Payment and tax records are kept without your name, as long as Indian law requires (generally up to 8 years). |
| Can you delete it | Yes. Edit or delete your entries yourself, and close your whole account any time from Settings (Close my account). |
| Does it train AI | No. Our AI providers are not allowed to train their models on it, and we do not either, unless you give a separate, optional yes. |
The full detail is in our Privacy Notice.
How a call works
When you call a listener, your voice travels from your phone to theirs through Agora, the voice service SafeEar uses. SafeEar never switches recording on, so no audio exists once the call ends.
What exists afterwards
Who talked, when, for how long and how the call ended, plus a short summary your listener writes (the topic and anything that worried them), so the team can keep the service safe.
What never exists
A recording or a transcript of your call.
Text chats
Text chats are stored so you can read them back. Only you and your listener can open them.
What our AI does and doesn’t do
AI is always labelled on SafeEar: the AI companion, mood check-in replies, journal follow-ups, Comb AI, tarot reflections and the AI voices that read meditations aloud. A listener is always a real person, and no AI ever writes a listener’s messages.
AI can be wrong. It is not a person, therapist, doctor or emergency service. If you write words that suggest you may be in danger, our AI features show Tele-MANAS (14416, free, 24 hours) and 112 instead of an AI reply. Nobody is alerted and nobody reads it.
What you type to an AI feature is sent to our AI provider only to write the reply. They are not allowed to train their models on it.
How listeners are checked
- Listeners join only by a personal invitation from SafeEar.
- Every listener is an adult (18 or older) and confirms their phone number.
- They tell us their background and languages, and can be asked for proof of their qualification.
- The SafeEar team reviews every application before a listener can appear to you.
- Listeners agree to keep every conversation on SafeEar: no phone numbers, social media or meeting outside, and nothing to sell you.
- After each call, the listener writes a short summary for the team.
Your listener will never ask for your number, your social media handles or money. If one does, please report it.
What happens after a report
You can block anyone in one tap, with no reason needed. A report asks what happened in your own words, and you can block at the same time.
The SafeEar team reads every report. They look at what you wrote, the call or chat details (who, when, how long and how it ended) and the listener’s after-call summary. They do not open your chat and there is no recording to listen to.
If three different people report the same listener within 30 days, that listener is taken off the list straight away, with no new calls or chats, until the team has looked. After a review, the team may take no action, warn someone, or remove a listener or account.
How we hope you’ll come back
- Prices are shown before you pay, and nothing renews or charges by itself.
- Your journal and meditations count the days you used them this month, not a streak that breaks when you miss a day.
- You can leave any call or chat whenever you want, and close your account yourself from Settings.
- On a shared phone, Leave quickly at the top of the website (or pressing Shift three times) takes SafeEar off the screen at once. It cannot delete your browser history, so use a private window if someone might check. In the SafeEar app, simply switch away from or close the app.
